笔记

First published in 1644 by Wenceslas Hollar. The map is notable for the panelled borders placed on three sides of the map, containing twenty-six roundels, twenty-five filled with portraits of the kings and queens of England from the Norman Conquest onwards.

This example is state three of the plate, with Francis Egglesfield’s sole imprint, probably published shortly after he acquired sole ownership of the plate from his partner Peter Stent, who last advertised his role as co-publisher in a catalogue from 1662.
