‘Rounded with a sleep’: an exhibition commemorating 400 years since the passing of Shakespeare and Cervantes

14 - 28 April 2016
London

DCRB, in collaboration with Librería Bardón (Madrid) and Stéphane Clavreuil Rare Books (London), brings together maps of Elizabethan England such as a 1583 wall map of England and Wales by Christopher Saxton, with rare works by the two authors, including a first edition of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and a copy of Cervantes’s Don Quixote illustrated by Dalí.

The date of the authors’ passing – 23 April 1616 – inspired the establishing of World Book and Copyright Day by the UNESCO.
