Notes

A map of Flanders in eastern Belgium, with armorial shields in the surrounding countries and showing towns, rivers and canals.

Single-sheet derivative of Gerard Mercator’s rare wall-map of Flanders on four sheets, published circa 1540. Tramezini’s map is the first derivative of Mercator’s influential work. The original, one of the earliest productions of this great cartographer, is known in only one example.
