Notes
To the left of the map is an elaborate title cartouche surrounded by naval scenes and flanked by cherubs. Above this is the title within a banderole, together with three cherubs, holding aloft the coats-of-arms of the seventeen provinces of the Spanish Netherlands. Below the cartouche is a diagram of phases of the moon, together with an explanation upon finding your time at sea, using the diagram.
Of the two institutional examples — the Ghent University bares a dedication and portrait of Maximillian Emanuel II, who was the last governor of the Spanish Netherlands from 1692 to 1709.
