Notes
A chart of the east coast of Africa, from the Cape of Good Hope to Saudi Arabia, oriented to the east. The land bridge in Egypt joining Africa to the Middle East is positioned too low, truncating the Red Sea. The cartouche is decorated with figures in native costumes. It is the first of two charts which detail the sea passages from Africa to the Far East taken by Dutch East India Company (VOC) vessels.
