Mapping the British Isles

A Christmas exhibition dedicated to maps of the British Isles, including the first printed maps of the counties of England and Wales by Saxton; Speed’s county maps from his Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine; and the large scale maps by Bryant and Greenwood, among others.

Rounded with a sleep’: an exhibition commemorating 400 years since the passing of Shakespeare and Cervantes

DCRB, in collaboration with Librería Bardón (Madrid) and Stéphane Clavreuil Rare Books (London), brings together maps of Elizabethan England such as a 1583 wall map of England and Wales by Christopher Saxton, with rare works by the two authors, including a first edition of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and a copy of Cervantes’s Don Quixote illustrated by Dalí.

Scottish Maps at the Caledonian Club

The British Library and DCRB’s exhibition of rare Scottish maps and pamphlets in the Drawing Room of the Caledonian Club, to coincide with Burns’ Night and to help raise awareness for the British Library’s campaign to raise funds to conserve, catalogue and digitize the King’s Topographical Collection.
